Auricular Acupuncture in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Auricular acupuncture or ear acupuncture is a specialized acupuncture therapy where as acu-points on the outer ear are triggered using either needles or electro acupuncture stops. There are as many as two hundred acu-points on the outer, each point names generally other areas of the anatomy, such as knees, hips, shoulders, lungs, liver, heart and so on. So the outer ear acts like a switchboard to the brain, each acu-points on the ear when treated triggers electrical impulses from the ear where the brain to the specific area of the body that is being triggered. Therefore, if someone had asthma, by treating the lungs points on the ear, it would help to ease the asthma. Auricular acupuncture pertains to micro-acupuncture. The future of this technique of the stimulation is more painful but tiny tech needles can be pressed on the earlobe for stimulation with a longer period, such as three to five days. Also auricular needling manipulation usually does not interfere with surgical operation during acupuncture anesthesia; this is the reason why auricular acupuncture is one of the most commonly used ways for acupuncture anesthesia.
