Practicing Qigong for Relaxation

There are two forms of Qigong exercise that emphasize self-relaxation, and I have called them as “Relaxation Qigong”. The first form is spinal movements and is done in a standing position. The second form is simulating the breathing state as in sleep and can be done in either sitting or lying down positions. They are mainly used for releasing stress and physical tension, shedding fatigue and promoting metabolism. By practicing these exercises, one can achieve whole body relaxation immediately, or have less stress and better sleep, and radically improve one’s health, both physically and mentally. In addition, the first form, as a spinal adjustment from the neck down to the tailbone, can help to relieve pains of neck, upper or lower back, as well as arthritis and sciatica conditions. The second form can treat many kinds of chronic diseases, such as asthma, anxiety, depression, insomnia, migraine headaches, and most stress-related illness, such as heart diseases and gastric ulcers, etc. with great results.
