I think it would be helpful if you stated that you are doing APDT rally and it's VERY different from AKC rally.

How to Approach Stations in Rally Obedience Shows

So one of the different things about Rally obedience or Rally O is that there is signs that are used in different stations and you approach each station with your dog and you do what the sign says. Here are some examples so we got one that tells you to do a right turn, we got left turn, got another left turn, okay here is a bonus one and this is halt and halt always means sit so this is actually telling you to sit your dog, leave your dog in a stay, walk ways and then do a recall this is a bonus one they are not all difficult. Here is a example of a fairly lower level one halt again when you see that it always means sit and it is telling here to take 1 step and sit your dog, then take 2 steps and sit your dog, and then you are going to take 3 steps and sit your dog. So it is just telling you how you go about reading these signs they could look a little bit strange at first but when you get use to them it is not so bad to understand them. Here is another one a little bit complicated you sit your dog and then you are going to pivot 90 degrees to the left and sit your dog again. This one is telling you to call your dog to the front and then finish to the right. When you come against this one it is asking you to sit your dog and then stand your dog and we just demonstrated both the sit and the stand with Ursula. This is a simple one just asking you to sit your dog. A little bit more complicated asking you to sit down, you put your dog in a down stay and you walk around your dog, if you hit this one your dog at the end of the exercise would be in a down stay before you would move forward you would make sure that your dog is still in a down so your dog would move forward with you from the down. So you can see that there is tons of signs here there are start and finish signs and I would show you those in a little bit but this is one of the things that makes Rally O really different then regular obedience. Is you come up to the signs and you basically do the exercise at each signs, there are many different levels, the level that we are going to be talking about today is the basic one but as you get more proficient working with your dog there is higher levels and more complicated exercises that you would engage in.
