One of the things that might affect your dog as they get older is that they might lose their appetite. It's clearly very important to maintain a good nutritional balance in your dog's food, but sometimes as they get older they do lose their appetite. So what you do if your dog loses their appetite? There is a number of different canned products that are all meat, very few products. This is one particular one. It's cooked chicken. So you can get products that are just all meat based. This one is whole breast chicken, water, sufficient for processing, that's it. So you're not adding a lot of preservatives, garbage, or unnecessary stuff in the dog's diet. What you can do if you find that your dog is losing it's appetite, and let's say your eats Kibble, you can add some of this stuff to your dogs dinner. If your dog goes off of the Kibble that they're eating for whatever, let's say they're sick with something, they're on antibiotics and they go off of the particular food that you've been feeding them, you're going to need to find something else to feed them. Best thing to do rather than going out and buying large bags of different Kibbles to try to see what your dog will be interested in is go to your local pet store and see if you can get some sample bags. These are just sample bags that I picked up from the local pet store. It's usually one meal and you can give it to your dog. See if they like it, see if they eat. They don't like that one, you go on to the next one. They don't like that one, you can try the next one. You want to make sure when you're feeding an older dog or when you're feeding any dog really, but certainly with your geriatric dog. It's really important that you're using a very high quality food so that the dog, as their digestive maybe gets a little bit less efficient, that your dog is able to get as much out of the food as possible. So a lot of fillers are not a good idea. Certainly a lot of preservatives are not a good idea. You want to use something that your dog is really going to be able to utilize. If your dog goes off their food, use little sample bags. See if you can find something they'll eat, certainly adding something, which is a good healthy ingredient. Cooked chicken, cooked beef. Make your chicken so you don't have to buy the can stuff. It certainly is cheaper if you go to the super market and you buy a whole chicken and you pressure cook it. The dog can eat the entire thing, bones and all. That's a great healthy thing for your dog. So if they're going off of their food, try to figure out what will enhance their food, make it taste better, make it a little bit more enticing and inviting them to eat and keep up their health and their strength by feeding them a good healthy diet.
