Tips on Growing a Loquat Tree
In my area, most people consider loquats an ornamental tree. It’s an evergreen, which means that it keeps- it does not drop its leaves in winter. It stays green. I love loquats because it has a tropical look, it has large tropical looking leaves. And it’s a nice tree for privacy because it gets very bushy and because it doesn’t drop its leaves. The fruit, it bears fruit in the early spring, and these trees have already produced for the year, and they produced very nicely this year. The fruit of the loquat is a little bit like an apricot. It’s not quite that sweet. It has a seed very similar and one seed in the middle and the meat has the same sort of texture as an apricot. And it’s delicious. And you make jelly out of it.
