With a long coated breed, sometimes it can be important to condition the coat. A couple of different ways you can do that. One thing you can do is when you've given your dog a bath you can get a coat conditioner and mix it with a gallon of water so your diluting it. You can just rinse that right through the dog's coat, let it sit for about 60 seconds, and the rinse it off. That's your basic conditioner that you would do when you're bathing your dog. You can also use a conditioner when you're brushing the dog. A couple of different products you might want to try different ones out and use what actually works best for you and your dog. An example is this one would be a texturizer; it gives hold and texture to the dog. So when you've got your dog completely brushed out, you just spray this texturizer onto the dog and then you brush it through the coat. Most of these have a very pleasant smell. It gives your dog a nice smell for a long period of time. Nice shiny coat. This particular one adds texture. If you have a dog breed who's coat ought to have texture or if it has flyways and you want to keep it nice and smooth and that's a great option. There's another product. This one is actually a combination of mink oil, vitamin E, and it also has sunscreen in it. If you have a dark breed dog who spends a lot of time outdoors, then sunscreen is not a bad option.
