Standing Abductor & Opposing Arm Lift Exercise for Seniors

Now we’re moving on to balance exercises. We’re going to do a standing abductor lift with an opposing arm lift, really focus here. Abs are tight, your right arm is going to lift out to the side as your left leg comes off of the floor. Come back down to starting, opposite side, exhale lift and inhale lower. Good. Exhale lift and lower. Go as slow as you possibly can, listen to your body and lower. Good. Exhale lift – inhale lower. Perfect. If you feel that you’re wobbling just take a second, stand in the middle and just get your balance and start again. Very good. Try to get 10 on each side and lower. This is excellent for balance, it helps you use your abdominals and learn how to use your core and lower. Good. Exhale lift and lower. Perfect. Reach that arm out, reach that leg out and lower. Good job.
