How to Drill Holes for Book Binding: Part Two

Hi! I'm Gary with Expert Village. First you can see why we use a board because this way we know when we get to the end we see there will be a little hole there and we see the hole in our book is in towards the inner part of the book and made a nice clean hole. It is very important once you have the hole made that you don't want to move the book around too much. You see I am holding it very very tight here and making sure that the book doesn't move because you are going to lose your hole if you start making other holes and the pages move around. You want to keep it straight so that you can put the needle through nice and clean. So I am going to hold it very tight and I am going to then move on to my next hole. I am going to space my 4 holes down the back fo the book so I am going to put my next one about 2 1/2 inches down. That should give me enough to space out 4 holes. So again I am going to space everything in and make sure it is nice and tight; going to find my location. The nice thing about when you are drilling the holes you don't have to worry too much because if you make a hole feel doesn't catch the pages or maybe not in the right spot, we are going to be covering this whole strip up with black tape so anyway they are not going to see it. They will see it from the inside of the book obviously but it is not such a big deal. You can go ahead and fix that up. We drilled out the last hole and you can see that it is straight but when you open it up, our holes are now running down the middle of the book. You can see we left some space in between the holes and the words and they are all pretty nice and even as far as the distance from the middle of the book so this should give us a nice strong binding.
