How to Apply Masking Tape For Book Binding

Hi! This is Gary for Expert Village. What we are going to do now is put some support tape, masking tape, right along the seam of the book. We see that this area gets a lot of the pressure from the book, opening and closing and it basically gives a little bit of support around the holes that we are going to make. So we are going to go ahead and take this book and we are going to put our support tape along the seam here. We use masking tape. It is real easy to tear. Put it right down, try to make it so that the middle of the tape is right down the center and that way both sides because there is going to be a hole, when we make the hole, it is going to go through both sides. So we want both of them to be supported, we try to get it right in the middle. Just rip the tape and this will be our support as the holes are drilled and we also do it on the back of the book. So again we will just lay it right down in the middle of the book as high up we can to make sure it covers all the holes and give it a tear at the bottom. Don't really want it to be hanging over. Just try to make a tear as close to the bottom as possible and that should give us some nice support when we make those holes and the string will protect the holes that we made.
