How to Clean the Inside of a Trumpet

It’s real important to keep the inside of your trumpet clean as well. Use a snake to clean out and dipping the instrument in some warm soapy water and I do want to make sure it is warm not hot. Get it in there and you’re going to run the snake through the lead pipe, running it through water, cleaning the inside out. You want to take each slide out and also cleaning the inside with the snake. After you’re done you’re going to apply some lubricant, there are a number of lubricants on the market out there today, I personally like to use trombone slide cream with a little bit of water. I think it works out really well, some people use motor oil or even Vaseline can work as well, and that will keep your valves or your slides working really well. You’ll want to do that with the mean tuning slide, your third slide, your first slide and also your second slide.
