How to Clean a Trumpet
My name is Chris Cox, I’m a trumpet player. I’ve got a degree in Education from CSU Fresno and a Masters in Music Performance from Ithaca College. And I’m here to tell you about some things about the trumpet. I’m just going to start off with a couple basic ideas in care. first of all you have a mouth piece and you have your trumpet and it’s made up into different parts including valves, the slide and it’s real important that you keep all of these clean. So some of the basic care that you need to think about is mouthpiece care, you need to take your mouthpiece and sterilize every once in a while. Warm water, warm soapy water works out really well, getting a mouthpiece brush and putting it in the warm soapy water and cleaning it out occasionally is a really good thing for sanitation.
