I have just recently started making my own mums and I found a website that shows how to make the braids. The cost of one at Micheals or another craft store is around $8 or $9, when homecoming season comes areound you can buy a roll of ribbon for $1 and make them yourself and save a lot of money. www.plushinarush.com has instructions on making the braids. Also www.divinekreationz.com has very affordable trinkets, backing, and everything else you need to make a mum.

Add Military Braids to a Homecoming Mum

Hi I’m Heather DeHoyos and I’m here with Expert Village to show you how to make a homecoming mum. And when you get all that you want on there because you can buy as many things as you want, usually Michaels’ has a whole bunch of stuff. You can also put on there, this is called a military braid, they come like this it’s probably easier to buy them than make them because of how they are so difficult to make. Usually if you make one and you mess up you might as well throw it away, you can’t fix it. So we usually buy them at Cross Accessories. Now this you can – you’re going to be sticking it on like this, like try to make an S with it you know. And if you’re going to put a stuffed animal here or a little hat or whatever you’re going to put, you’re going to glue gun it like on the tips and right in the middle on the back. Make sure you use very little glue because you don’t want it showing too much. And like I like my little monkey, so I’m going to stick him on the middle because he’s going to have something glittery around him. He so cute. I like to place them on first before I glue them to see what they’re going to look like.
