I'm Tom Shean and today on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you how to install a metal roof. In a hip situation a tip is to measure and install the cut pieces in the peak before laying full panels. This allows for more freedom in measuring in fitting. Once you're at a point where a full panel could be set, proceed to lay the balance of the fill. It is considerably faster and more accurate to measure the complete section and lay out all the cut and bend points on the ground. The entire section can then be marked, cut, bent and installed minimizing labor. A good tip is to lay a few panels out on the ground and transfer the angle. Mark the panels together, then separate, cut and bend. Install one side and now you can measure the other. In areas where there is a high debris buildup on roofs and high standing is not an issue, tiles can be cut and bent down the center of the valley to form a closed valley. Remember, pattern offsets particularly with the continental tile make this detail visually less appealing.
