How to Use Metal Roof FramingHi, I'm Tom Shean and today on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you how to install a metal roof. In most cases metal framing is similar to wood framing. Metal ridge hip backer is used to frame out the hips and ridges for unventilated continental tile installation which excepts the barrel cap trim. This product is fastened with screws through each lower flange at each rafter or zigard junction. Panels are cut bent up against the sides. If square trim is used then custom hat sections should be fabricated to suit the individual job needs. Some installations require insulation. So a standard Z-subger is used to fasten the insulation to the decking. The metal batten is then fastened to the rafter or zirgard with 2 fasteners at each junction. The hip backer is available vented unrequest and standard Allmet screws are accepted for metal framing.
