How to Frame the Roof Ridge

Hi, I'm Tom Shean and today on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you how to install a metal roof. Where the ridge is to be ventilated and the coursing is less than a full tile, a one inch board is laid parallel with the ridge on each side leaving a one inch minimum air space. The last course of tile will be cut, bent and rested on this board, this is typical for all products. On a retro fit application, slot the existing sheeting to allow for air flow. Battens are terminated flushed with the fascia. A 2x2 is then placed up the rigged over the main battens offset 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the fascia. This allows the burrow caps to properly roll over the fascia. In the case where the gable is not square, the 2x2 is set so as to average this discrepancy. Up to 1 1/2 inches of adjustment can be gained by using this method. Remember, continental and shadowline products are patterned and will accentuates any variances.
