Hi! This is Shana Bethune on behalf of Expert Village and I am going to talk to you about experimentation and writing as you go. One of the great things about computer multi-tracking is that it allows you limited room for experimentation. You have so many tracks to play with. You can add or remove new ideas with the click of a button. Changing effects takes just a few seconds. If you want to re-record something you can do it very quickly. It doesn't cost you anything to add more and more tracks. Once you have the basics recorded, take some time to experiment with different overdubs. You would be surprised with new ideas you come up with on the spot. For example, try plugging in your guitar and playing along with your recording. Hit record before you do it and if even one part sounds good you can loop it and add it wherever you want or try out ideas with your keyboard. There is an endless array of possibilities. You may find a cool sound that surprises you. It is always worth spending a little time playing around with the recording. It is like a jam session and gives you a chance to develop new ideas. With today's technology, you have an opportunity to do endless experimentation. Make sure you take advantage of that opportunity.
