Hi! This is Shana Bethune on behalf of Expert Village and I am going to talk to you about protecting your hearing. For both safety reasons and objectivity when you are listening, it is important to protect your hearing. Make sure you protect your hearing at all times. If you play the music too loud especially with headphones, you can do permanent damage of your hearing. At the same time you could make it difficult for yourself to listen to tracks with clear ears. The best thing to do when setting the volume of your monitors and your headphones is to have it slightly lower than what sounds right. Your ears will adjust. They will become sharper and that is much better than the opposite which is having your ears become dull from too much stimulation. Periodically give yourself a break from listening so that your ears have a chance to clear up and in instances when something is very loud is being played like drums or guitar amp, use ear plugs. They are cheap and every musician should carry them. Your ears are essential tools, keep them safe.
