How to Make a Straight Cut Shot in Pool

Hi! I'm Michael Lamendola with expertvillage.com, and today we're going to shoot some pool. We're still here in Fantasia Billiards in beautiful downtown Burbank, and right now in this section I'm going to show you different shots you're going to encounter. This first one is about the easiest one you can ever do. It's a straight in shot. Pretty much no nonsense. Hit the ball, ball goes into the pocket. Now, keep in mind that if I use high English, that cue ball is going to follow it in. I'm going to use low English or stop English and stop the ball from going in. Perfect. They won't always be that easy. I'm going to show you some shots that you're going to encounter that require a little more work. The most basic shot in pool besides a straight end shot is the cut shot. A cut shot is where you've got to address the ball and essentially cut it into a pocket. When I taught my friends how to do this, one of the examples I like to use is by taking the number of the pool ball and aiming it towards the pocket. That gives up something to aim for. If I'm going to cut the 1 ball into the side pocket, I'm going to aim for the number, hope I get it right, shoot through the ball, and put it in the pocket.
