Cross Key Moves in Irish Step Dancing

On behalf of Expert Village my name is Niall O'Leary from the Niall O'Leary School of Irish Dance in New York City and today I'm demonstrating beginner soft shoe Irish dance. This is a move called the cross key so for this we are going to start with the right foot in front and we are going to bring the right foot back by rolling back you roll your heels gently on to the floor like this. So your twisting both ankles and your going 1,2,3, so you really don't hit the floor it is more a gentle roll of the heels back on the floor and you can see I'm bringing the right foot back and I end with the left foot in front. So the dance 1,2,3 so if I do it a little faster 1,2,3 so you can see it is all about getting good ankle movement. So your twisting your ankles 1,2,3 and that is a move called the cross key.
