Leap Point Moves in Irish Step Dancing

On behalf of Expert Village my name is Niall O'Leary from the Niall O'Leary School of Irish Dance in New York City and today I'm demonstrating beginner soft shoe Irish dance. Our next beginner Irish dance move is called leap point, leap step. So here we are going to do a leap onto the right foot, leap point, and the then leap onto your front foot, leap, step. So we are switching feet here watching how I'm changing feet I'm doing leap point, leap step. So your on your toes, your putting your weight on your right foot, then no weight for the point of your left foot and then leap not the left foot and bring your foot back. So to make this move look good you want to almost leap as close as you can do the point. Leap point, leap step, so you got a nice pointed foot. Watch it once more 5,6,7, and leap point, leap step.
