Hop Point Moves in Irish Step Dancing

On behalf of Expert Village my name is Niall O'Leary from the Niall O'Leary School of Irish Dance in New York City and today I'm demonstrating beginner soft shoe Irish dance. The next move is called hop, point, hop, back. For this one we are going to do are going to do a point and a point in the middle of the dance is like your touching the floor without putting the weight on your foot. So we are going to go up, point, up, back. So to do your point like this is like putting your foot in the fire. Would you leave your foot in the fire? No you take it and hop away. So the point of that is again your pointing your toes, arching your foot, stretching your ankle, you lightly touch the floor and take your foot away. So here we go hop, point, hop, back and of course your toes are pointed all the way when you bring them up all the way and land on the back. Once more hop, point, hop, back.
