Stance in Irish Step Dancing

On behalf of Expert Village my name is Niall O'Leary from the Niall O'Leary School of Irish Dance in New York City and today I'm demonstrating beginner soft shoe Irish dance. The first thing I want to tell you is something I often get ask about in Irish dance. What about your arms? In Irish dance you don't move your arms traditionally so there is 3 things you need to know the first one is that you close your hands. I recommend wrapping your fingers around your thumbs like this, you want to stretch, and hold your shoulders back and stretch your elbows. So close your hands, holding your shoulders back, and stretching your elbows. Keeping your arms still not stiff but still. 3 things about your feet you turn out your feet so your making a V with your feet like this, you cross your feet so that the heel of your front foot is in front of your toe of that foot and your dance on your toes.
