Train a Show Dog to Jump Through a Tire
Hi this is Elise with Expert Village.com and in this short video clip we are going to be showing you how to start teaching your dog to go through the tire which is one of the agility exercises the dogs can do. To start with we are going to assume that he does not know what it is, we want to have the tire set up quite low. So for a big dog like this, this is nice low height. I am just going to get him used to going right through there. I am going to take a cookie here and I am going to throw it through. Without saying anything I am just going to let him go through and get that cookie. If he comes through on his own, I will give him another cookie. Once he is comfortable in getting the idea of going through the tire, I am actually going to put a word on it. I am going to call this tire. Come around. Tai. Go tire. Yes. This time I didn’t actually throw the cookie through. I saved the cookie in my hand and gave it to him when he was done. I don’t want a dog necessarily licking on the floor every time they’ve come out of the tire. Once I get him comfortable with going through the tire, I am going to see if I can get a little bit of distance here. Come here. Good boy. Right here. Sit. Tai. Sit and stay.
