How to Play Melody on the Piano
Hi I'm Tony Newton with Expert Village and we are going to be talking about creating melodies on the piano and then harmonizing those melodies. Okay we have talked about the 7 notes of the scale, we also talked about the 12 notes chromatic color tones so when you are creating a melody 9 times out of 10 it is two way you either going to here it out of the blues sky in your head or you going to sit down on the piano and do something like this miss around. Until you come up with a melody. So I always miss around and so this is a melody this is something that come up from the top of my. Now the first you have to do with that is the best thing to do is find the bass notes before you go for the chords so you got we know we are starting off with C and if it ends on C then more then likely it is in the key of C. So let's try this okay we just missed around with the bass line there. Okay so now we call we do what is called harmonizing a melody so we can see that we are playing we are playing a C,E flat, a A flat and a G so we know the first one is a C so let's play a C chord but this is a C minor cause it has a C in it so that works we can go back to a major there.
