Hey! My name is Jerimae Yoder with Expert Village. Your cover art is really important also when it comes to your demo recording because people are going to judge what is going to be on this by what they see initially. So if you just got a disc from your local store and you wrote with a Sharpie who you are and what you are. That is what they are going to think. Oh, this is a home demo and it is going to be junkie and they might not even listen to it. I'll tell you right now A&R reps are not going to listen to it and it is going to go right in their trashcan. They don't want to see that stuff because they know what is going to come afterwards. If you haven't taken the time for it to look good, then obviously you have not taken the time to make it sound good either. So make sure your cover artist is cool. Come up with a really cool concept that kind of reflects who your band is or what your music is about. I had two covers from my national release and actually my first release was this one. I had a friend do it who is also in an independent band, he is killer and he has done some work for me in the past and he has his own company. I thought he did a great job and I really liked it. But then my distributor saw it and my publicist saw it, and they said no, it's not up to national standards so we hired somebody else and we came up with this one. When we came up with this cover, everybody liked it and this was from a pro and from someone they had worked with in the past. So you can see difference. One is now national released and the other one I have a thousand copies of in my garage. So make sure you are getting the best work and that your music is obviously represented well by what people are saying on the cover.
