Communicating with Your Preschoolers Teacher
Hi I’m Ann and we’re here to talk about changes; this means changes within the family, within the home and how it effects the school. If you have any personal changes within the home for example divorce, death, hospitalization, a loss of a job, any personal problems that are effecting the family unit, these changes would be wise to be communicated to the teacher so that she or he better understands why your student is behaving perhaps in a certain manner or that more understanding be given to the child if he’s going through a rough time. Divorce in particular is a difficult thing for a young child to understand and to deal within a classroom setting. Any other circumstance that you think would be pertinent to share with the school would always be welcomed and kept confidential. Change is constant within our society and it should be openly talked about with the classroom personnel and anything else you can think of that effects your child, you should also share with the teacher. Another point to bring up is when you’re going through a rough transition within your family unit, something to make it a little easier for your child is to have your child take his or her favorite toy to school and that toy will accompany him or her during the school day. And again if the teacher understands what’s going on, she will be more accepting of such a circumstance within the classroom.
