Fungus Treatment for Carnivorous Plants

Hi my name is Wes for ExpertVillage.com and in this video segment I’m going to show you how to treat your carnivorous plants for fungus. If you want to know more about these plants you can visit us at Equilibriocarnivorousplants.com. Now sometimes carnivorous plants in cultivation develop problems with fungus or algae because of low light levels or because it’s too humid in their conditions and they don’t have enough air circulation. Fungus problems can develop because of a lot of different issues. Occasionally a common problem that you have is algae in the pots, this typically wont kill the plant, but if it starts to become too much of a concern, you can just scoop it out with your finger and throw it away. There is other algae treatments that you can use, but mainly the biggest concern that you have is fungus on your plants. The fungus can quickly kill the plants so it’s important to treat the plants. We use Captan which is one of the best fungicides. Here you want to take about a liter of water in a spray can, use only about a tablespoon of fungicide and mix this thoroughly in your spray can. It’s important to make the mixture completely incorporated because if you have too much of a concentration of fungicide on your plants, the fungicide will actually kill the plant. So when you spray, just a very little amount is enough to treat your plants and then if you place these plants in high light level, you won’t have a fungus problem anymore.
