Hi I'm Dan on behalf of Expert Village in this segment we are going to talk about latch. Latch stands for lower anchors and tethers for child's safety seats. Latch became a standard in vehicles as of 2003 if you look over here you would notice that we have a metal bar here that is knowns as a latch anchor a lower tethered anchor. Lower latch anchor. It is important when you use the latch anchor that you check your vehicle manufacturers instructions these are placed in exactly 280 millimeters and designed to be used in specific locations. One of the most common errors we see is using the wrong latch anchor to put the restraint perhaps in the center section but using the outside latches that won't work properly. If you decide that you are going to use a latch the new seats all come with a latch then it is okay to use the latch make sure you But don't use both latch and vehicle safety belts it is not designed for that you have with the ride down use one or the other both are equally safe. In this situation if I'm using latch to install this it is important to look at the latch itself this latch is directional you could see that there is little arrows right here that says this needs to be up. Some of the other latches are actually steel clips. Like the one on this base these are steel clipped latches they have a heavy side and light spring side. When you use this latch the heavy steel sides needs to face up like this if you put it in upside down and hook it this way you could pull against the spring the thin spring side and it could fail so make sure you use the heavy side up. In this case to install the latch what you would do is place the seat in position, push the latch on the left anchor like that you would hear it click. You want to make sure that the straps are not twisted you are going to push it on and hear it click. This one has a single point in which you pull to tighten it and you want to get your weight into the sit and pull it tight here and then check your installation at the belt path no more then a inch movement. And you got a well installed seat.
