Hi I'm Judy and this is Dan on behalf of Expert Village we now want to show you how to use your infant seat properly. We have showed you in a previous segment how to install the base but is equally as important because if you don't do this correctly your baby could be endanger. So this is my infant seat, this seat right here that I have goes from 4-22 pounds. My baby here weights about 9 pounds this is baby Kaylyn so you we are going to put Kaylyn in here seat so the first thing we are going to do is Dan is going to loosen the hardness making it very loose that make it very easy to put the baby in. The first thing you we want to do is make sure that you get the baby all the way back in the seat. The importance is when the head, neck, and spine are flat on the back of the seat that is going to compress evenly in a crash so in order to remember that we have this little phrase which is the little bottom crack so we are going to tell you to put the crack on the back crack of the seat to keep the baby back. Okay so just like that crack on the back and the baby is nice and snuggle in there all the way back. Next thing you do is you put the hardness straps over the babies shoulders like this, you put the hands into the buckle. Remember that these can be very hot if they are left in the heat so you want to be very careful with the babies skin. Snap those in and you put your center clip it is called a chest clip very important part your want to put it together. Next thing we want you to do is make sure the baby is seated properly, pull through the things right here get it nice and snuggle on there hips. Pulling the retainer clip low and then you take your adjusting straps like this and you pull it snuggled. Okay and we make sure that it snuggled and we have talked about snuggle we don't want any slopping it, we don't want the elbow to pinch anything at that top of the hardness. Right there we want it to be snuggled and we want it to dent we don't want to leave marks we want it snuggled. We don't want you to be able to get a finger underneath there is no fingers underneath of the shoulders. And no pinching at the shoulder hardness. Last thing you do is your move the retainer clip like this and you always have it right at armpit level. This is a very very important part the retainer clip the retainer clip always need to be at arm clip in order to keep the hardness wrap on top of the babies shoulders. If this baby is bold enough to get through the birth canal if this hardness is to low the baby is going to submarine right out of there hardness wrap. So very very important there hold car seat career keep this hardness clip at there arm pit.
