Hi where Dan and Judy and on behalf of Expert Village in this segment we are going to talk about installing a base infant seat. As we have mention in previous segments the seats have a slop to them designed for adults comfort but this is could give you proper angle for your base. You want to refer to the manufactures instructions, you want to refer not only to the car seat manufactures instructions but the vehicle manufactures instructions as well which you would find in your owners manual. It would talk about proper placement and type of seats that you can use. Since 1997 the vehicle manufactures has been required to develop provide a locken system for seat belts just for vehicle safety seats. This is a initial locking belt but it is switchable which means if I pull it all the way out like this it then switches to a locking retracting mode where it remains lock until it retracts all the way. We are going to use that when I install this seat right here it say vehicle belt pack and it usually very very clear to where the belt goes. I will take the latch and insert it into the buckle and then tighten it. This seat itself has its own lock off this little area right here is a lock off this would lock the belt if I slide it under there. Now the trick to getting a good installation is to get your weight into the base you put your weight on it take the shoulder portion of the belt pull it snuggle, sometimes it helps to rock the seat side to side and then take the remaining belt put it under the lock off like that, and now you check at the belt path for side to side movement. As you can see the base is now a part of the seat it is not moving. Most manufactures would tell you it has to be snuggle enough so you don't have more then one inch side to side movement at the base at the belt path. Now you can grab that base at the outside and you can wrench it like this and you would ruin your installation. So always check where the belt goes through and now you can see the angle of that installation.
