How to Cut the "I" Beam for a Sawhorse
Hi! This is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip I will be cutting the material to form our I-Beam. Now the directions I found on line have me create this I-Beam as my center column that is going to have all my materials sitting on it. Now the directions have me cut 3 2/4's at 47 inches and at 49 inches. So the first thing I am going to do is line up the ends of my 2x4 so they are flushed together. I am going to mark one of them at 47 inches and this will leave me 49 inches remaining on my 2x4. The next thing I am going to do is place my combination square to that line and I am going to transfer that line to the other 2x4's. After that I am going to cut all 3 of them at my line. Now that we have 3 short boards and 3 long boards, we are ready to assemble our I-Beam.
