Why Harvest Your Own Seeds?
Seed harvesting is collecting seeds from plants in order to plant those seeds again in the next season. There are several reasons that you would harvest seeds. One is that you don’t have to buy the seeds. Two is that you get to know your plants and your seeds. I’ve been harvesting my own xenias for ten years. And I really know my xenias and I know what they like and so there are no tricks or questions.

So when you harvest your own seeds you want to be sure to use them within a year. Because otherwise they lose their potency and they lose their germination.
