Heave-Off in Tang Soo Do Martial Arts

Hi this is Kelly and Rob from South Florida Tang Soo Do coming to you from Muse Art in Hollywood, Florida. Another part of Tang Soo Do is a self defense techniques and a common self defense need is what to do if you’re on the ground. So we’re going to show you a very simple heave off or buck off, there’s lots of different ways to do it, but in this one the person who is pinned is going to start flat and put their strong leg up, plant their strong leg. This hip is going to heave off, you’re going to keep your head low and you’ll see how this other hip basically goes under, it becomes like a table being turned where you just have to tip the top and everything rolls off. So what it looks like when you have someone on you, their weight is on you on your hips, I’m going to plant this hand, I’m going to be talking and trying to negotiate my way out of this of course and what we saw before when just like before when I used that block, now I’m going to use the heave off and this is what it’s going to look like. And then of course I need to follow up with kicks, including the axe kick that we used.
