Prepare the Handmade Challah Dough to Rise
Hi I'm Karen for Expert Village now we are going to set our handmade dough to rise. I have been kneading it for about 10 minutes and adding in a little flour at a time. I probably use about 8 or 9 cups of flour in the end. What is important with bread dough is that you get the right texture and consistency. You see how nice and firm and satiny, not sticking to the hands, okay now we would take our clean bowl and we would just put a drop of oil in it. Not to much cause you don't want your bread to be greasy. You can rub the bowl all over, place the dough in and then turn it over to coat the whole surface of the dough. Now we'll cover that up with plastic wrap this is a big bowl so I use 2 pieces and then we cover that up and let it set for about a hour in a warm place and it should double in bulk. Now we are going to preheat our oven to 350 degrees.
