The Front Fall Move in SAMBO Martial Arts

On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Stephen Koepfer at New York Combat SAMBO in New York city, and today I'm going to be demonstrating beginning SAMBO. Okay, in this clip we're going to do the basic front fall. This is the event that you fall forward, you trip forward. You need to protect yourself from some kind of motion. You don't have time to roll. In the beginning stage, we start from our knees. Basically, the point of impact is going to your palm and forearm at one time; not a pushup position. You'll be in this position, arm bent. It's important you don't look at the floor. In case you can stop your fall, you won't smash your face on the floor. So for the beginners, we start from the knees, we fall forward looking to the side. Once you feel comfortable with that, you can do it from a full standing position. Just fall and protect your face by turning to the side. Even more advanced, you can jump.
