How to Operate a Random Orbit Sander

Hi! This is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip I will be showing you how to operate a Random Orbit Sander. When sanding, you can either grasp it around the waist or you can grasp it by the top. When sanding, you want to make long sweeping motions and you want to let the sander do all of the work. If you push down or tilt the sander as you go along, you are going to slow the removal rate in addition you are going to put small divots into the wood. Now with this sander, you can sand with the grain or you can sand against the grain. Either way will give you a good finish. The sandpaper grit is written on the back of the sandpaper. When sanding, you want to start out with a courser grit and move to a finer grit. This is going to give you a much finer finish.
