Smoothing Frosting On The Top Of A Sheet Cake
Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now we're going to round off that lip that we made on the top edge of the cake. What we're going to do with the lip is just pull it in up over the top in a sweeping motion. Got some crumbs in there. See how when you have a lip and you just pull it over there, squares off the top of the cake. Sweep it over. Sqaure off that edge. This side the lip has tipped over onto the side so I'm going to go back. Sometimes you end up going over that's all. Go back, straighten that side, get that lip to stand up. There you go. Okay, and then just pull that lip over the top. Okay, keep turning it to your best position to work on. I've pulled that lip straight up. Now I'm going to just grab it with the knife and just pull it over the top. See, grab it with the knife and just pull it over the top. Okay, we're getting flatter. As you can see, it is difficult to get a shieet cake nice and flat. We're going to do the best we can. Now I'm just going to go flatten out that that whole top back and forth. Sweeping the knife this way and then that way, this way and then that way. You can fuss with this a little. Straighten out, check the corners, neaten it out the best you can. Don't be too fussy because you're going to be decorating it. This is just the base. You don't have to be perfect.
