The Freeze Swing: Breakdancing

Hey! How you doing? This is Jonathan Escotto, also known as B-boy Xcel, on behalf of Expert Village, and today we're showing you breaking tips. Right now we're going to talk about a different transitional move off of footwork. This move we call it a freeze swing, because basically it's the same position as a freeze and you swing your body. I'm going to demonstrate what it looks like here. Those of your who've done capoeira before, it's something similar to that in capoeira. Start in the squatting position here, one foot out. I prefer to put my left foot out. Looks like this. Now, I'm going to break this movement down. Start off in a squatting position like so. I prefer to go with my right hand in, so what I'm going to do is I'm going to my left foot, put my left heel down as if I started a CC. Now from here, going to my left side. What I'm going to do first is I’m going to put my left hand down, so my momentum is going to my left. My right hand, when it's coming down, I'm going to do what we call the stab as if I'm going to a freeze. But I'm not going to stay in a freeze. I'm going to use that momentum to turn me slightly, so it looks something like this. My hand comes in, I go into a freeze. With my left leg kicking out, I turn around. Let's try it again. Start off in a squatting position like so, left leg out, left hand comes first, one. Notice I'm on my left heel in my right toe. Right hand comes in for the stab, left leg stays straight. Here, kick out, and repeat the motion. That's what we call a freeze swing.
