Understand the Pressure Settings on a Finish Nailer or Brad Nailer Tool
Hi, this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip I'll be showing you how to properly set your pressure. Here I have a piece of oak, oak is a very hard wood. When we put our brads in, we want them to sink just below the surface. We don't want the heads to be up, because then you'll be able to see them and we don't want it to go in too far cause then it isn't gripping the oak good enough. So what we want is the heads to be sunk just a little bit into the oak, so we're going to have to set our pressure correctly. Now, our pressures allow us to go between 70 and 120 PSI for our tool. So I'm going to start at 70 and see how far it'll drive this nail in. As you can see it didn't drive it very far, we needed to go a lot further. I went ahead and set my pressure to 90. As you can see that drove it almost all the way in, but I can still feel it. Next I raised it to 110 and we'll give this a shot, in this case it sunk the nail in just to where I wanted it.
