How to Use Props in an Acting Audition
On behalf of expertvillage.com I'm Lori Wyman with Lori Wyman Casting in North Miami Beach, Florida and today we're to talk about how to prepare for on camera auditions. We've discussed props earlier, but one thing I think is imperative for you to have is your own props. Don't come into the office and say, "oh I need a phone, can I borrow your phone." One day I was conducting an audition and an actor was holding a receiver of a telephone as if he was on the telephone and I looked at him and I said, "where did you get that receiver?" Before he got a chance to answer I said, "that's my fax machine, isn't it" and it was. What he has done is he had disabled my fax machine by removing the receiver and my fax machine was ringing busy while he had the receiver and he was using it for his audition. So make sure whenever you're going to use a prop, you bring your own props.
