How to Correct an Early Release in your Golf Swing: Part 2

On behalf of expertvillage.com my name is Ray Boone and I run the Ray Boone Golf Academy at the beautiful Miami Beach Golf Club. Today I'd like to present to you the topic of the over the top golf swing. One of the other common falls we see with people that cast the early, they're releasing the club early. What happens is their body stops, the left elbow starts to collapse, so they end up going through the ball, chicken winging the left arm, cupping the wrist and they hit this really high slices or they'll hit it super high in the air or they're going to be hitting the ground first, which most of the times they're going to be hitting the ground. So what we'll like to do to fix that, again is to change swing path. So the first thing you would do is work to drop the club more on the inside, get them to hit more from in to out on the golf ball rather than again casting and cutting across the golf ball. So we would have them swing back, we would have them practice dropping the club into their hip pulling the handle more and again trying to hit the golf ball out to the right of their actual target and that's going to help promote extension in the left arm through impact.
