Post Race Homing Pigeon Care

My name is Joseph Shun Chiang Lee. I am the member of the Calcutta Racing Pigeon Club. When the pigeon returns from the race, that's the time they are very tired and the digestive system also may be week so what we do is soak the grains and give them. When they come back, immediately we wash their feet with warm, put some Dettol in the water. You wash their feet even their feathers. We clean the birds so that if there are any germs that have come from outside, we would be destroyed. We give some antibiotics, some light supermisine, 50mg of supermisine tablets to the birds. If they are already tired and they've come back from a long distance place. In the morning, as they come home usually the birds are given a light breakfast. Mostly they soaked the grains I give them and the main feed is given in that evening.
