Cutting Focus Paper for Your Scrapbook

Hi, I’m Shelly Cordsen with expertvillage.com. We have now made our map, now we’re going to cut our focus fabric using our map as our guideline. Now we have our map here, what we can do is draw this onto our focal paper and then cut on those pencil lines we have drawn. But instead of taking that time it’s very easy by doing it in quadrants just to cut it from your ruler, so right off we got to cut it into fourths just like we drew it. So I find my mark on my ruler for six inches right there and I slide my razor down and I got it into two. Take each section, again 6x6, so we now have our four pieces of paper. So we know this one is fine 6x6, we’re going to lay it here, we’re going to take number two, we need to cut that in half 3x6, so we’re going to take this and put it on our mark three, got those two done just lay them on your map so you know you have them done. We’re going to come down to quadrant three, we need 1 ½ and another 1 ½ so I’m going to find my 1 ½ on my ruler, slice, put it on my little good map there. My other 1 ½, now I’m left with this section here and I need to cut it in half to give me 2 3x3 pieces of paper, so there’s my one 3x3, the other one I need to cut in diagonal. So I’m going to lay my points right on the track of my ruler, close that and slice, there we go. Now we’re at quadrant four, which is probably our most complicated, first of all we’ve got to take a half inch off the side. So since this is six I’m going to bring it down to 5 ½ and cut that little strip off there and that’s going to go here. We have a half inch off the bottom which is down here, so we’re going to cut that to 5 ½. This is actually a scrap pieces, we’re just going to throw that one away, now we got to do our one inch all the way around and actually the best way to do that is on the back come in with your ruler, you can do it with this, it’s a little more complicated. But me I just take my pencil, mark your half inch mark all the way around just like we did the map for your one inch and then when you get all those marked, then stick it into your cutter and just cut on your pencil mark and then you lay your border on your map.
