How to Safely Hike During Hunting Season

Hi, I’m Kate I’m with Zoar Outdoor on behalf of expertvillage.com and we’re going to be talking about hiking today. When you’re hiking you want to be aware if it’s hunting season, wherever you are. If it is hunting season, you should have some bright colored clothing to bring with you. I like to carry this vest, it’s pretty lightweight, pretty cheap, pretty simple and it’s even waterproof. So depending on the area and you should check with the guidebook to decide if it is hunting season or not. You might decide it’s not worth going up, most hunters are pretty safe and know what to do and hopefully won’t shoot you. But if they should be out there where you are, you should probably wear a vest and I actually like to put it over my backpack just in case they can’t see me from the back. These things fit over everything, you can wear a hat, you can wear a vest, you can wear whatever you want that’s orange. If you have pets, you should also put on orange on them, they can be mistaken for any type of animal too. Be aware of your surrounding, be aware of the hunting season it might be.
