Tools & Supplies for Needlepoint Tapestry
I am Francie DeMun. I am a tapestry artist here on behalf of Expert Village. One of the beauties of this particular medium is you need very few tools. One is a canvass and again as I said before, a plain needlepoint canvass depending on your eyesight and how delicate you want your work you do a different gage. And, it is completely by the inch and you can to a needle point store and find out what I am taking about. A needle which has a big enough eye that the yarn can go through. This is actually a tapestry needle so it is easy to thread. Then wools, I use really nice wools that way they last longer and there is a vibrancy to them so these are Scottish wools. Scissors, to cut your things. You don’t’ need big scissors; just need a little cuticle or vanity scissors. I use these metallic I don’t’ what they are threads; you get them at a needle point store. They add an awful lot to the simplest things that you will see in the scales of my dragons and wing of Pegasus. I have used red metallic and the phoenix. Just does a crispness. So that is it. You can be creative and you could add any beads or just be creative.
