Stalking the Ball: Croquet Rules & Etiquette
Hi this is Ray and today I’m going to talk to you about stalking the ball in the game of croquet. Now stalking the ball is one of the things that people most often overlook, yet it can be one of the most essential parts of the game. Stalking the ball is essentially setting yourself up to hit the ball in a given direction, so if I want to hit the ball in this direction, I’m going to stand back and I’m going to look in the direction that I want to go in. I’m going to place the mallet and I’m going to practice the swing and see the line that it’s at, I know what line I want to go in and then I’m going to step up to the ball, knowing now that my feet are in the right position, my mallet is in the right position and I’ll be able to hit the ball in the desired direction. So again, stalking the ball is very important and is often overlooked, but yet it’s one of the main reasons people miss croquet shots in the game of croquet. Practice it, get use to stalking the ball before hitting it.
