Tips on Proper Plant Diversity

On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Craig Morrell I’m with Landscape Restorations in Miami, Florida. We’re here at Palm Hammock Orchid Estate in Miami, Florida talking about basic gardening. In this video clip we’re going to be talking about planting diversity and there’s nothing wrong with diversifying your garden. Get out of the same old rut, try a new kind of plant, there are 100’s if not 1,000’s of options of plants for where ever you happen to be growing unless it’s in an artic zone or in a desert. Even in a desert you have lots of options. Here in Miami we have a lot of options, take a look around, choose something that has a different color, a different texture, a dwarf form of something. You can choose things that have multiple colors in the flowers, add some statuary if you wish to, diversify, keep your garden moving. A garden is a process, it’s not a snapshot in time. So feel free to experiment with something as long as you know that it grows in your climate, it’s one of the most important things you can do, diversify but educate yourself at the same time and you’ll find out that your garden and you will be better off for it so that way you can enjoy your garden.
