How to Make a Full Roll: Croquet Rules & Etiquette
Hi this is Ray and today I’m going to show you how to do a croquet shot know as a full roll. Now a croquet shot is where we take our ball and we place it directly against a ball that we’ve previously struck in a roquet shot. Now in a full roll, we want to have both balls go down the court to about the same distance. In this case, we’re going to send both balls straight down the court, so we’ve got them pointing directly in front of me. For this shot, we’re going to want to take our left foot and put it directly in the plane of the ball we’re going to strike. Our right foot will go on the other side. For our grip we’re going to put our top hand a little lower than normal and our bottom hand is going to go about two-thirds of the way down the mallet. When you bring the mallet down, you’re going to see that the shaft is about at a 45 degree angle, for the shot we’re going to want to bring the mallet back and we’re going to want to follow through pretty good. So take the mallet back, bring it through and as you can see both balls went about the same distance down the court. A full roll is a great shot to learn, so go out there, grab your mallets, practice it and see if you can hit the ball the same distance down the court.
