How to Make a Three-Quarter Roll: Croquet Rules & Etiquette

Hi this is Ray and today I’m going to show you how to do a croquet shot known as the three quarter roll. As you probably already know a croquet shot is where we place our ball is against another ball that we’ve previously struck in a roquet shot. Now for the three quarter roll, it’s very similar to our half roll and full roll, except that we want the ball, our ball that we strike, to go about three-quarters of the way down the court as the ball that we’re going to croquet. So what we want to do for this, is once again, we want to put our left foot about into the plane of the ball, our right foot on the other side, we want to grip the mallet a little bit lower than normal and our other hand will go down pretty far on the mallet. So what we want to do is we want to have a good angle here, and we want to be able to bring it back and have some follow through. So here we go, I’m going to bring the mallet back and as you can see our ball we about three-quarters of the distance of the croqueted ball. The three-quarter roll is great for setting up breaks, it’s great for setting up wicket shots, hoop shots, so go out there practice it, see if you can do it at farther distances, closer distances and in front of wickets. Good luck.
