Using Annealing Wood Burning Pens for Pyrography
So you‘ve picked your system, you have your wood burning tool here and you are ready to burn. Except there are a few things we need to do first before you start burning. The first one you need to take your tip and you need to do what is known as annealing. The reason you need to do that is as the tip is designed and made and it is deep down or pressed and sharpened, you have the tendency to do as stress your metal. You need to strengthen your metal back. One of the things you need to do to do that is you turn your burner on, hold it up and let it heat up to a high temperature for approximately one minute. This helps takes the stress over the metal that is already there. Once you have done this, you need to turn it off, set it back in its holder and let it cool down naturally. You do not want to try to force it to cool off any quicker because what would happen then is you would help put stress back into the metal. This is something you only have to do with a new pen; it’s a one time deal. After that you then need to go ahead and sharpen it and point.
